THE SOUNDS AND SLUMBER

Slope to slope ,a vale of yore, and the setting sun,
With cue for the wise, the lesser noise;darkness is creeping.
Black is the night,no sign of light, the stray are howling,
Louder is the silence, and nervous;the people sleeping,

Many cannot sleep, the distressed cannot weep,no sound is heard,
Except for the boots, that step along the routes, announcing they are here,
Dull ,bleak, and dreary, the companions of the weary, this feeling is insane,
The heart ticks in fear, nothing can compare,no respite is near.

Not a life,this is a curse,
For all we did and all we do.
We know the truth.
But are we true?
