“ That Olive Tree”
Next time you go to the park,
or the mall, on a shopping spree,
take a good look around,
and notice how many children be,
with a life that they live as a right,
away from conflict and gun fights;
Is it just for us that this freedom be?
Why are we so selfish in this decadence?
And why are we so blind?, to what lies,
beneath the rubble of humanity,
in the lands in which our ancestors dwell,
lying in their graves, waiting,
and wondering if their graves are heaven,
while the world outside, the actual hell,
When will this insanity finally end?
When will our twisted reasoning mend?
How many more have to be dead?,
before we eventually realize,
that the colour of spilled blood,
on one side of the conflict, is crimson,
and, on the other side, red,
When will all children be safe and free?
When will we stop digging small graves?,
When will we wake up from this nightmare?,
And when will we plant that olive tree?
