IGNORANCE AND BLISS

Leaders, all set to brush away,
The schools that enhance life,
Courtesy their atrophied hearts,
Education is under the knife,

“Nay,”some say, “'tis not true”,
“Teaching is very much there”,
Especially for their progeny,
That's their definition of “fair”,

Indeed,it does make complete sense,
When there’s no school for the masses,
Duty bound are our great leaders,
To send their kids to the classes,

Safe, away, outside the vale,
They are duly groomed,
Ready to lead over the next generations,
Whose education is doomed,

As each child is raised without school,
His life will waste away,
The future will have nothing for him;
While the elite will get it on a tray,

In vain is this sacrifice,
The Kashmiri masses have made,
Sadly, towards education,
A farewell to which they bade,

“Freedom around the corner”,
Is the rhetoric now in vogue.
Less among the masses;
More around the rogue,

We all speak of freedom,
I do find myself free,
Free to speak the truth,when needed,
Consequences,whatever may be,

Death comes to one and all,
The injustice, I will resist.
I choose to live my life in truth,
While others can foolishly exist,

Is this the cost for “Freedom”?,
Is that what means as “Free”?,
When a child in Kashmir doesn't know,
That one plus two is three.
